Adults and older teenagers can be just as impressionable as young children when it comes to cool characters. The recent commercial success of the movie G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and succeeding rise in demand for paramilitary and ninja costume gear is proof of that. How so, you ask? The increase in demand for gear that could make up adult Snake Eyes costumes is proof of how people want to feel some of that cool factor from the character Snake Eyes. Some people went to watch the movie just to see how Snake Eyes and other characters were translated into their most recent incarnations, and of course others went to see some smashing action scenes.

Adults have a distinct advantage over children when it comes to costumery because adults appreciate details better, and are more capable of meeting those costumery needs. An adult Snake Eyes costume will be very strongly similar to the one in the movie. Really, who does not like dressing up as a ninja commando? Especially one who is on the side of good? Thus, there is no real surprise in learning that Snake Eyes will be a popular choice for costumes in the coming months or even a few years.

Adult Snake Eyes Costumes will include most if not all the following pieces and articles. Starting from the top, Snake Eyes wears a black balaclava. He sports a characteristic visor, which extends from ear to ear, across the eyes, and is made of a smooth black material with thin horizontal grooves evenly spaced across it.  His torso is covered by a skin-tight suit in black. On the right shoulder of this suit is a pattern of thick red lines; from top to bottom, the lines are cut in half, then unbroken, three pairs. Around his chest he has a harness holding military pouches and a scabbard on his back.  In the scabbard is a ninjato, or medium-length Japanese sword.

The bottom half of an adult Snake Eyes costume is black, form-fitting pants, along with a pouch belt and hip holster around the waist. The holster holds a black semi-automatic pistol. The shoes are tough but flexible short boots. There are also strapped-on scabbards for trench knives.

For the completist, the outfit should include all items mentioned above, plus a few extras. The ninjato Snake Eyes carries is uniquely designed, with a visible full tang, red horizontal accents, ricasso, and serrations near the base of the cutting edge of the blade above the ricasso. Snake Eyes is also capable of using various modern firearms, as well as personal explosives like grenades, so include a couple of these props.

Though adults Snake Eyes costumes are primarily black, there are grey and white variants for urban and arctic warfare. Getting the costume just right will take a fair amount of effort and quite a bit of sourcing for the right props, but the end result will be spectacular.  Acting the part is optional but recommended.  Just try not to actually hurt anyone with your prop weapons or hand-to-hand combat techniques, okay?
