The recent G.I. Joe movie has received generally good reviews from movie critics. Of course, for the common moviegoer, what really stuck were the images of cool getups and amazing action scenes. Is it any surprise then that Snake Eyes Halloween costumes are getting a whole lot of attention?

The basic concept for a Snake Eyes Halloween costume is an all-black paramilitary suit. In the movie, the character Snake Eyes was a skilled stealth combatant who wore a skin-tight suit made of what looks like rubber. Atop this were several belts holding pouches, a pistol holster, and a sword and scabbard across the back. What really gives him the name “Snake Eyes” are the eyewear that he wears. The actual design of his eyewear has evolved over the character’s lifespan, and the most recent incarnation is a smooth horizontal visor with fine grooves running across the surface. Under this visor he is also wearing a black balaclava. Additionally, the right shoulder of his body suit has a characteristic pattern of alternating broken and whole red lines. Every part of the outfit screams stealth, despite how ironic the statement sounds.

Snake Eyes is a real bad-ass military ninja, skilled in using traditional ninja weapons as well as modern arms. He looks tough and cool, and has the bite to match his bark or lack thereof. Add to that the fact that he is on the side of good, and you have an irresistible character to portray. There is no surprise that Snake Eyes Halloween costumes will become very popular in the coming Halloween seasons. Even now, customer demands are driving up the production of these costumes in time for the coming Halloween season.

Of course, both kids and adults can put on these costumes, but let us face it: Halloween is really for the kids. Costumery for adults on the other hand is not limited to Halloween. The original costume included a ninjato or ninja sword, as well as a semiautomatic pistol. Parents concerned over the safety of their children, especially since a rather pointy object is involved, can either substitute safer items or remove them completely. Just hope your child will not get sulky about not getting the “whole” costume.
